How do i share my printer w/ a windows box.
Host:
cups
samba
Client:
Windoze

When i try to connect to the printer from windows it asks for a driver. No generic postscript driver is listed.

When i use the adobe generioc postscript driver installer, it sets up the printre and says it's ok, but i can't print. If i go to the printer > preferences > ports no port is selected and it says to select one. This isn't necessary for netword printers (the options are grayed out). How do i do this. The adobe driver never appears in the windws driver list.

EDIT: i created a tcp/ip port with the ip address of the host and lpr queue (as opposed to raw) with the queue name the same as the printer name. It still don't work.

Give this a good read (only Chapter 7 applies here, but the whole thing is worth reading.) I think you are trying to setup the printer in an awkward way. I find that mapping network printers that are shared from a computer is most easily done in windows by first browsing the machine in question by going to START - RUN and then typing
Code:
\\your_print_server_name_or_ip\

and then click RUN or OK or just hit [ENTER] and if you have Samba setup properly you should be able to see the printer listed. Simply right click on the printer and choose the context menu item labeled "Connect" then you should be done. I know this works in Windows 2000 from one Windows box to another. I do not use Samba to share printers though so I cannot promise this will work. But I would try it this way first.

Install the drivers for the printer in question on the windows box, but don't actually set the printer up with the drivers.
It might just use those when you add the network printer of the same type.
