xscreensaver-demo problems

when I run xscreensaver-demo, i get this error:

xscreensaver-demo: 16:07:01: Gtk-warning: invalid cast from (NULL) pointer to `GtkWidget'
Segmentation fault

i've tried recompiling xscreensaver, and there where no problems there, but I still get that same error.

i've even tried recompiling gtk+ but the same thing still happens when I load xscreensaver-demo, too.

any ideas what gtk package or whatever could be causing this?

fixed it.

turns out this was caused by non-existant dir listing in the .xscreensaver config file.
The line imageDirectory: was pointing to where my fat32 partition used to be mounted.

very weird.
