| I've got Gentoo installed on both my laptop and desktop machines. On my laptop, I'm experiencing major clock drift. I have the timezone set and everything, and I can't figure out what's causing it. Any ideas or suggestions? |

| There's a bunch of threads dealing with clock drift in these forums, so you may want to do a little search. Other than that, you could delete the file /etc/adjtime and do a 'date MMDDhhmm' followed by 'hwclock -w'. |

That said, I would be willing to bet that it's something to do with power saving modes on the laptop, either by:
1. Scaling processor (throws clock off?)
2. Sleep mode, which does affect the clock.
I'm not sure how either can be fixed, but you may have to alter your ACPI functions in the kernel. |
