trying to emerge postfix ... all dependant packages came down without a problem ... then emerge tries to download the postfix package without success.

It fails with a 404 not found at the gentoo mirror and times out from the default next ftp site (ftp.aet.tu-cottbus.de)

Any suggestions appreciated. This is is the first time I've had any sort of problem with the system.

Thanks,
Tony

When you use ebuild script for posfix-1.1.7 ( latest postfix-1.1.7-r3.ebuild ) everything must be OK. If not, try to download pfixtls-0.8.7-1.1.7-0.9.6c.tar.gz from ftp.aet.tu-cottbus.de by hand and emerge postfix again. Or simply comment out using of pfixtls in postfix ebuild script.

Martin

P.S. If you use older version of postfix than 1.1.7 there is no pfixtls package of ftp://ftp.aet.tu-cottbus.de

hi martin,

thanks for the reply ... have been trying to emerge the version you refer to, but without success. I will attempt to download file manually from ftp site.

If not to much to ask, where to I place once I've done that in order to do the emerge using local file? (what is pfixtls anyway???)

thanks,
Tony
