For some reason starting a month ago or so I've been unable to ssh to my gentoo box at work. Nor can I connect to the webserver on that box. I can do ssh/http to the other linux boxes (redhat) at work through the VPN just fine. I can also connect to ssh/http on my box from other boxes at work.
So there is some voodoo with my box not liking my attempts to come at it through the VPN. As I said, I was able to do everything just fine until fairly recently. I can't think of anything that I would have done that would affect this.
I'm using sysklog, and I don't see _anything_ in my /var/log/auth.log when trying to connect from home. Am I looking in the wrong place? Does anyone know of something that I might have changed? Of course I've restarted sshd and apache, and even in desparation rebooted the whole machine, to no avail. I'm upgrading to openssh 3.5 from 3.4p1. I doubt that's it since it wouldn't affect apache but what the hell. |

OK while my home session is trying to connect to ssh I see this on the server's netstat -a output:
Code: |
tcp 0 0 orthanc.nbill.cellc:ssh 172.16.1.217:3481 SYN_RECV
|
That will remain for a while and then just drop. Not sure what or why is or isn't happening. :p Orthanc is the name of my box at work. The 172 IP is what the VPN server at work assigned to my home machine. |
