|
|
I emerge development-sources 2.5.51 today, did the usual, mrproper, menuconfig, bzimage, modules, modules_install, reboot.
Then I tried to emerge nvidia-kernel, which looks fine, first it mentions applying the patch to make it run on 2.5 series kernels, but then it hits an error.
Here's the output:
| Quote: | root@litovel: /etc/X11> emerge nvidia-kernel
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) media-video/nvidia-kernel-1.0.3123-r2 to /
>>> md5 NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-3123.tar.gz

| I get the same thing, BUT finally since 2.5.47 I can use a new fresh kernel, so whatever fixes/changes 2.5.51 include over 2.5.50 it have fixed my "root=" bootup error, and reading through changelog stated a bunch of timing fixes and stuff so I'm happy running "nv" driver while trying this new badboy out. |

Damn CRAP. I had some stuff compiled incorrectly (like DRI etc that I don't want) so I went ahead an compiled the kernel again with some changes and now I get the "root=" bootup error again, why?? I know I have all settings OK, only removed non-critical stuff, it just couldn't handle being compiled a second time... help, someone? |

Well, I solved it by going back to 2.4.19-Gentoo-R7
Only goes to prove that it's called beta(or prerelease, whatever) for a reason _________________ //Sunner
