Ok, so I want to upgrade my system from stable to unstable.
I've done this once before, briefly, to test the masked Gnome 2.1. When I did this, I upgraded all sorts of things, including I believe, glibc to 2.3.1. I later downgraded back to stable. Everything has worked fine since then.
Now, I want to go back to unstable, hopefully for good. I do a emerge -u world after changing my ACCEPT_KEYWORDS to "~x86" and it seems to be fine. It emerges gcc, binutils, etc. While it is trying to emerge glibc, it gets pretty far but eventually bails with:

It would seem that something from my previous update to 2.3.1 is still lingering, left unrecompiled with 2.2. I have re-emerged portage, python, binutils, gcc, etc. with 2.2. I don't know how to fix this. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I fixed this. The fact that the error occured in libsandbox told me that it was a problem with portage. Despite the fact that re-emerging portage didn't seem to fix it, using the recovery tarball in /usr/portage/sys-apps/portage/files did. After replacing all my portage files from this package, glibc emerged fine and I'm in the process of emerge -e world. |
