i'm looking for some port forwarding tips. i have a home network with a linux firewall/router. it currently handles port forwarding to allow me to vnc into the local machines (no, i haven't gone the ssh vnc tunneling forwarding route).
the thing is, it seems that from some networks, outbound traffic on the vnc ports (and ssh, probably all except port 80) doesn't seem to work. an explicit proxy server is being used. what i'd like to be able to do is forward my traffic such as:
http://mybox.net/ssh - forwards to the ssh server.
http://mybox.net/vncMachine1 - forwards to machine 1
http://mybox.net/vncMachine2 - forwards to machine 2
is this possible through iptables? i'm using dyndns, so i could possibly pick up a few extra base url's and forward the traffic that way?
http://mybox1.dyndns.org - forwards to box 1 etc.
is there another way to do this?
thanks! |

hi,
if u want to use different application layer protocols with an http proxy, then u have to build an http-tunnel thtough the http_proxy.
but to accomplish this u need at least one machine on each side of the http_proxy to run a little program called httptunnel: http://www.nocrew.org/software/httptunnel.html
i think its not possible to do such things as http_proxy_tunneling within the ip-layer. someone correct me if i'm wrong. |
