I have downloaded and installed the emu10k1 source many times, but this time i am puzzled.
Code: | localhost root # insmod emu10k1
Using /lib/modules/2.4.19/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o
/lib/modules/2.4.19/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o: unresolved symbol ac97_read_proc_Rbae4da72
/lib/modules/2.4.19/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o: unresolved symbol ac97_probe_codec_R84601c2b

I used to have this problem too, I believe i fixed it by compiling my kernel with the following:
Code: | <M> Sound card support
<M> Creative SBLive! (EMU10K1)
[*] Creative SBLive! MIDI
|
and then emerging emu10k1.

WOW, do i feel dumb as a doornail. ironically though as i test it the speakers light up, the module loads, but still no damn sound. xmms is playing, and the modules are loaded, digital output is set, but i still get no sound? any ideas? |

I recompiled my kernel for sound support as a module. Then i downloaded the emu10k1 tar file. Unpacked it, the usual make, make install stuff. Then ran a modprobe emu10k1. Made sure all the modules were loaded correctly. Then since i have digital speakers, ran a quick emu-config -d. and bam, sound!
