shutdown now " hangs on brining down eth0 and then after having been bored to death... when i press enter it goes back to the bash !!!!
what is wrong.... happens when i su to root and then do it..
or if i am actually logged in as root
ideas? solutions? smart remarks? _________________ WEBSITE

ok..... lets just say the 'smart remark' -thing was ment in a ironic way!!!
i am using dsl over a router to connect to the internet. and eth0 is my realtek chip net card.
what could be the problem? _________________ WEBSITE

yeah i have the exact same problem, except i'm running gentoo inside vmware. when i do it hangs after eth0
but if i just do then it sails past shutting down eth0 and reboots fine.
so thats how i'm shutting down at the moment... not ideal as you can imagine...
anyone got any ideas? |

Therefore, to halt (shutdown) your system, try
That command is useable in every *ix that I've come across (HP-UX, AIX, NCR, Linux)
Or, you can use the command:
