Me, and various other friends and enthusiasts from the Gechi (Gentoo Channel Italy), have donated 300 Euros to the Gentoo Tech Store to support Robbins and gentoo.
Thanks to him and to all the developers who worked and work on Gentoo to make it so great and even better from time to time.

So gentoo was part of a for profit company and then it was made into
a non-profit and now the founder is leaving?
Is that the story here?
Who runs the non-profit? Is there a board of directors? -Jeff |

it was never a for profit company, it never used to be a company, still isn't
it was just made an OFFICIAL not for profit orginisation

I just talked to Seemant on IRC. As far as he knew Daniel had only received $1100. I don't really understand how this can be with all the postings in this thread. I sincerely hope that the true amount is a lot bigger than that.
Does anyone know if donations through the shop is still going directly do Daniel? |

Yes, an update on Daniel's situation would be nice. I haven't posted what bought at the store/donated and sure a lot of others haven't either, so the figure should be much higher. Personally I don't care if he made more than his debt level off of the store. Think he has earned it!

This kinda Giving the best to something and Asking for nothing in return Spirit shows why the West is leading the world in Linux. You don't see this happening in the East.
All they do here in Asia is translating people's works into their own language, How sad.
I wonder how much Asia is contributing to GNU.
BTW: I have to donate some.

I was on forum-hiatus for a few months and missed this thread. Can I echo the above and ask if anyone knows whether donations to Gentoo are finding their way to Daniel? |

they are still going to Daniel because he runs the store. but he is placing donations in a separate bank account, the contents of which will be donated to Gentoo Foundation. so any donations right now will go towards gentoo development/infrastructure, at some point or other.
by the way, many will be happy to know that Daniel is now in a much healthier financial situation.

damn, ive been off line for a while, job hunting in Dublin, Im back home and starting a new job on monday, so ill ahve some money, I'll donate through the gentoo store as soon as I get my first pay check ,
