I've searched the forums regarding previous activity for Coda, for now atleast I couldn't find anyone who might be using it, there is coda-client in portage except that it is masked...
After researching for quite some time, I think it would be best for me to replace my current FS with Coda, currently my *nix boxes are running Samba & Netatalk. They were running NFS too, but I stopped using that for some unknown reason(I honestly don't remember why)...anyhow...now while thinking and reading up on NFS and other technologies again, I think AFS would be best for my needs, but I have absolutely no experience with it.
So my question is, is anyone here currently using OPENAFS or Coda?
Also, should I try unmasking the coda-client and OpenAFS from portage or should I just download the source for both coda server & client from its homepage??
Any help would be appreciated
P.S. My requirements: Fast large file transfers between linux file servers and clients being mostly Macs (both Classics & OS X) and Windows (NT4s mostly) and couple of other *nix servers including one Sun fileserver running solaris 5 I think
But then again, thats for work, at home I only have one Mac, some PCs and couple of *nix servers thats it.
