gaim crashes on AIM/ICQ

when logging in with AIM/ICQ protocol gaim 0.59.6 (recent ebuild) locks up and eats all cpu time.
when run form console with -d opt. it says connecting would have blocked, connected and then locks. on ctrl_c it segfaults.

I tried several versions of gaim, with several CFLAGS with the same result, so i have to use TOC. MSN and Gadu-Gadu work fine.

My current CFLAGS="-mcpu=750 -Os -mpowerpc-gfxopt -mpowerpc-gpopt -fsigned-char -fomit-frame-pointer -frename-registers -fno-exceptions -frerun-loop-opt -fschedule-insns2"

has anyone seen this behaviour?
