If it really doesn't require to change phpBB itself then I think it could be a great improvement in these forumsadammc wrote:that's your choice, of course, and I see where you're coming from. but I would just like to make it clear that adding this particular mod doesn't require changing any PHP (at least it didn't last time I installed it). it only requires the addition of a form to part of the board style - since you're using a custom style anyway it couldn't possibly add any extra work / create any problems.
also, I'd like to make the point that on a large / busy forum such as this adding a quick reply form could save on bandwidth - since people do not have to load another full page of HTML to post a reply.
This doesn't mean that it has to change phpBB code. It could very well do that because of our custom theme. Even if it didn't, this would be yet another thing to have to remember to do everytime we upgraded.klieber wrote:any mod to the vanilla phpBB code is one more thing we have to maintain and ensure works correctly. That increases the complexity of upgrades and makes things more difficult all around.

We already have a number of people that do this. That doesn't mean we want to add to their workload.eross wrote:Maybe you should just choose someone to maintain the forums, it would be easiest way to improve the forums.
In fact, you're wrong. Just because the footer says we're running 2.0.6 does not mean we really are.eross wrote:In fact, at this very same moment forum is using an old version with known security issues (the exploits are posted all over the internet).
