After adding a user, I went to change their password with the
and i get the error
| Code: | | passwd: Authentication token manipulation error |
I tried to change my root password and I got the same error. I accidently closed my SecureCRT window and I tried to reconnect and now I cannt log into the box as root. The account I made does not work either. That was my account i was making. 
Am i totally screwed on this one??
any help would be appreciated! thanx!!

| You can change the root password by rebooting the box and logging into single-user mode. Do a google search on linux single user grub or something. I've only done it in lilo and haven't had to do it on my gentoo boxes with grub. |

I believe you can also change your root password by using the Gentoo live cd to boot and then chrooting into your system and changing it.
