is vt1616 working in 6channel under linux?

I want to make a 5.1 sound box but I found nothing related to 5.1. Alsa take in charge this hardware but nowhere it's written that it's a 5.1 driver... can someone tell me more? maybe oss takes it in charge but I didn't found any clue on oss site. (VIA VT1616 6 channel AC'97 Codec on via epia M)
