Hi,
A couple stupid questions:
1. Where would I find a list of supported hardware? My primary concern is an ICP vortex multichannel raid controler which I have running on an x86 box. I'd like to run this controler in a dual g4.
2. The audio hardware I need to run is currently running on an x86 box under alsa and eproms for ppc are available. Are all alsa drivers compiling on ppc?
I looked through the bugzilla and noticed a few alsa concerns.
3. Can I assume that if drivers exist in the x86 kernel that they exist in the ppc tree?
BTW, my reason for switching from x86 to ppc is because my x86 MoBo needs to be replaced...it's winter in my neighborhood and all the bills have fallen from the money tree and I've got this g4 foot rest that needs to be used. If the icp raid hardware will run on the ppc, I go this route. Otherwise, I need to get an x86 MoBo and worry about using the g4 another day.
Good day,
Ron |

I wouldn't honestly reccomend tryingthe swithc, jsut because things exist in x86 definately doesn't mean they exist on ppc... especially kernel drivers and the like
The main issue with kernel drivers is endianess problems, x86 is little endian, ppc id big endian, and sloppy coding (or not caring about endianess) causes problems many times |
