yamt mp3Id3 editor?

Hi its me again....
has anyone successfully installed yamt yet?
has anyone the same problem (see below) - or is there any other id3editor which is as powerful as yamt is?

the configure script always ends with the error
(./configure --libdir=/usr/lib) << the default is /usr/lib but it doesn't work that way either ;)

checking for ID3Tag_New in -lid3... no
configure: error: YAMT needs ID3lib to read and write ID3 Tags.
Please get it from http://id3lib.sourceforge.net
