Anyone know why the latest ebuild for valgrind seems to want to install xfree, despite a -X, -motif flagset. Or at all, for that matter? |

No. I just checked it with Code: | $ USE="-X" emerge -pe valgrind | grep xfree | ...and came up empty. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

I agree, it's odd.
I installed the update with --nodeps. Installed fine, seems to work fine. However, emerge -p valgrind still throws:
[ebuild N ] media-libs/freetype-2.1.2-r1
[ebuild N ] x11-misc/ttmkfdir-2.0
[ebuild N ] media-libs/fontconfig-2.0-r3
[ebuild N ] app-arch/cabextract-0.6
[ebuild N ] x11-base/xfree-4.2.1
[ebuild R ] dev-util/valgrind-1.0.4 |

Never mind. There was a typo in my USE flags in make.conf. Apparently they weren't being read.
Now, valgrind seems ok without X.
However - it does seem odd that valgrind will install X unless I forbid it. I thought it was a console app. |
