The gentoo-cvs mailing list is dead since 2002-11-04 and I still haven't found any official statement about the future of that mailing list on www.gentoo.org. There is bug #10827 but so far Daniel Robbins didn't commented it. My hope that this mailing list will be resurrected is diminishing fast. The gentoo-core mailing list (or whatever the name is) is closed for the public (I didn't found any archive at all).

So how can one follow Gentoo's development process, see what changes are done, etc.?

Doing an 'emerge sync', followed by a search for modified changelogs and visiting them all file by file is hardly a satisfying solution. Is there a better way to follow changes?

Thanks,
Andreas

You may have already seen this, but you might want to read about some changes that were made to the mailing lists recently. That may or may not answer your question.

The mailing lists were transitioned over to a new server as well as a new list engine (ezmlm-idx). There have been a significant number of growing pains as a result.

gentoo-cvs is up and functioning on the new server -- there just hasn't been any traffic on it for a while. If the intent was to kill -cvs, I doubt they would have gone to the trouble of setting it up on the new server.

So, my advice is to just be patient and, in the meantime, grep your local portage tree for changes. (yes, it's a pain, but it's workable as a short-term solution)

Thanks for the info and my best wishes to the mailing list maintainer ;-)
But a note on http://www.gentoo.org/index.xml wouldn't have hurt.

Good to hear.

Cheers,
Andreas
