Hi all,
it seems my system is becoming to behave stangely ... I do
Code:

emerge /usr/portage/app-emeulation/winex-cvs/winex-cvs-2.2.1.ebuild

then the system start downloading cvs code and building ... I had the old winex-cvs-2.2 installed so I expect it to be removed once emerging is completed. Instead i get (I've omitted unrelevant output trying to leave the sense):
Code:

... build output ...

>>> /usr/share/doc/winex-cvs-2.2.1/ANNOUNCE.gz
>>> /usr/share/doc/winex-cvs-2.2.1/ChangeLog.gz
--- /usr/share/man/
--- /usr/share/man/man1/
>>> /usr/share/man/man1/winex-cvs.1.gz

 * Use /usr/bin/winex-cvs to start winex.
 * This is a wrapper-script which will take care of everything
 * else. If you have further questions, enhancements or patches
 * send an email to phoenix@gentoo.org
 *
 * Manpage has been installed to the system.
 * "man winex-cvs" should show it.

I see 2.2 to be protected (but I do not know why). I had to unmerge 2.2 end re-emerge 2.2.1 to get it work!

I must add that it is not depending on this particular package or cvs. I had a similar problem with gawk: had 3.1.1 installed and wanted to update to 3.1.1-r1. No way: it compiled successfully but emerge umerged the just compiled 3.1.1-r1!! Had to unmerge 3.1.1 first and then emerge 3.1.1-r1.

Is it depending on my portage-system (2.0.44) being corrupted/ugly/whatever? Cleaning /var/tmp/portage and /var/cache/edb/* changed nothing. Has anybody else eperienced this? Should I file a bug report in case?

Thanks.

Autoclean has been doing odd things for me too. I've begun to watch it closely for stuff like that.
