I have an idea, how about we send about 600 people from #gentoo over to #gentoo-otw where they really belong, and actually have some peace and helping people in there for once.

Thats fine. I specifically pointed out in the topic it was non support. I sure wouldn't mind if you added the chan to the #gentoo topic. |

I believe this will actually happen automatically (taking the pressure off you guys). Especially if you add something appropriate about it in the chanserv message. _________________ Need to flame people LIVE on IRC? Join #gentoo-otw on freenode! |

Be carefull though we don't want any upstanding members of the communtity! we might start talking about something civilised and that evades the point... _________________

That will never happen, they've had #gentoo-ot for a long time.
/remembers the good old days of only ~250 people in #gentoo ;) |

I emerged XChat last night. Took me a while to get my fonts setup so I could read anything. XChat has more menu options then a Chinese restaurant. There's a bar down the right side with user names listed beside different colored lights? WTF is that? I'm sure it's a great and powerful app but can anyone suggest a nice lightweight CLI IRC client? Oh and for anyone that thinks Michael Moore is an excellent investigative reporter, I'd suggest you put on asbestos underoos before joining #gentoo-otw |

irssi is the best client out there.

What separates Irssi from ircII, BitchX, epic and the rest text clients? The code. I'm not using the crappy ugly kludgy code of ircII. Non-developers don't probably care that much about it, but that means a few good things anyway:
* Security - I'm quite confident that there's no security bugs in Irssi. No buffer overflows, no format bugs (%s%s%s), no remote exploits, nothing.
* Modularity - Irssi is highly extensible, you could change almost anything in Irssi with a runtime loadable module. And you can probably change anything you actually need to change with a Perl script.
