I'm trying to install gentoo on an Ultra2 and I'm having a lotof trouble. My latest problem involves the latest 'sparc-sources', kernel 2.4.26-sparc-r1.
I did an mrproper, and then a make menuconfig, but it dies on the latter. Here's the error I get:
Code: |
livecd linux # make menuconfig
rm -f include/asm
( cd include ; ln -sf asm-sparc64 asm)
make -C scripts/lxdialog all
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.26-sparc-r1/scripts/lxdialog'
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.26-sparc-r1/scripts/lxdialog'
/bin/sh scripts/Menuconfig arch/sparc64/config.in
Using defaults found in arch/sparc64/defconfig
Preparing scripts: functions, parsingscripts/Menuconfig: line 1432: 7838 Illegal instruction awk "$1"
Awk died with error code 132. Giving up.
make: *** [menuconfig] Error 1
livecd linux #
|
All the other kernel sources are masked, so how can I get past this error? I've tried re-emerging both sparc-sources and awk, but no dice. _________________ ---

You could try sys-kernel/development-sources that's where the 2.6.6 kernel is located. It's a better kernel anyways (and no it's not masked); not to mentioon that 2.6.6 is where all the sparc maintenance is at anyways. Although your problem may very well be with awk ... anyways, good luck ... oh yeah if you do go with 2.6.6 then make sure you read over ciaranm's guide at http://dev.gentoo.org/~ciaranm/docs/sparc-2.6.x/... hope that helps. |
