Why are, after about 2/3 of it, the blocks no longer being formatted?

So format them...

It works with standard CLI syntax, eg to add all the contents of a particular directory:[code]darcs add dirname/*[code] |

I can't force phpBB to do anything. It's just spitting you the [code] like that without creating an actually code block (ie substituted the [] tags).
