1) All clients boot with etherboot/PXE boot.
2) Load boot loader (probably PXEGrub)
2) Load Gentoo kernel image from tftp.
3) NFSMount appropriate "/", this is a full-fledged chrooted Gentoo installation...ease of software upgrades and all clients are uniform. Several exports, each optimized for different architecture.
4) system boots normally, users login with NIS, mount home directories with NFS.
5) security provided through read-only mounts of everything but NFS "/tmp" and "/home/$username"
Has anyone done this before? LTSP is something similar, but sets up terminal servers and is a very limited environment running locally. I want a full environment running locally with the server just sharing out files.
Has anyone done this before? Any tips? _________________ StrCrssd
