Hi All,

For the past several weeks, huge numbers of rsync downloads have been
consuming the vast majority of cvs.gentoo.org bandwidth. Today, our
server started croaking and we were forced to turn off cvs.gentoo.org
rsync access prematurely. Currently and for the forseeable future,
cvs.gentoo.org will only provide rsync access for our rsync mirrors.

Regular users should access our rsync *mirrors* via DNS round robin by
connecting to rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage. If you are using
a recent version of Portage, this can be easily changed by adding the
following line to your /etc/make.conf:

SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage"

"

k... I understand what is being said here and all.. but I just can't seem to figure out one thing... what command do I use to edit make.conf?

What do I type in front of
#
to edit the SYNC line in make.conf?
Thanks for the help :).

Code:
nano -w /etc/make.conf

Then replace the original SYNC line with the SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage". Of course, if you prefer a different editor use that instead...
