|
|
I'm running Gentoo 1.4 on a Althon XP 1800 with a GeForce 2 Pro. I've installed quake3 with the ebuild and it starts up fine, but when i right before the map finishes loading it freezes. CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE successfully gets me back to the console. Quake3 runs fine on the computer in windows and runs fine on my other computer's gentoo. I have reinstalled once to see if that was the problem, that has also failed. I do, of course, have the opengl setup correctly and the nvidia drivers installed. If anyone has any ideas let me know, thanks.

Do you launch quake from a terminal. That would spit out some good info. _________________ ___________________________________

Yes, but as it freezes i can't review any of the output. What is the syntax to log all output to a file? I thought it was 'quake3 > blah'. |

Should give you a log. This thread reminded me to try it and run cvarlist. I'm trying to remember how to up the number of simultaneous server queries (so the game browser runs faster). Couldn't find it in my q3.txt though.
can't help with your other problems, sorry |

My machine hard locks on quake3 if I use xdm, kdm, or gdm. However, if I start X with startx it works fine.
try reading your /var/log/XFree86.log file look at the end for info.
