XFree 4.2.1 migration breakage... ??? i have 4.2.1 and idesk is running great! heh maybe you can e-mail me the fix that you dont want to release ?

Alright, any other input into this will be welcome. If you are using iDesk with 4.2.1 and it works, send me a PM. If it *doesn't* work and you get an error message about 'fontconfig', try re-emerging 'fontconfig', and giving it another go. PM me or email me and let me know how it turned out.

I've received several bug reports about this, and apparently I'm not the only app affected - XChat2 seems to also be succumbing to the same bug. I am currently emerging XFree 4.2.1 so I can't check for myself - yet.

But your report that it works seems to cut against some of the other stuff I've been hearing that involves Xft. I hope this is the case.

I'll see about sending you the code. But I don't want it to fall out of step with the rest of development.

Where the hell u know that this is wmdrawer ?

Ah. Well I recognized the icon from the kde theme. And I use wmdrawer at the beginning of my slit too. So I just changed the icon to the konqueror one and it turns out it looks exactly the same as yours. :)

There is a new patch for iDesk available, from my webspace, which I am proposing as 0.3.4, barring discovery of BUGs. It fixes the long standing dragging problem breaking the correct application of transparency. I hope.

It also adds user configurable contrast enhancement for the icon titles. Please check out the README for details. Any help testing this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

My real nick is DJoi and im a maniac ;)

After a while played with RH 8 , im back to the root (Gentoo).

On one pic, you can see wmdrawer in action.
Dunno who asked about it...........

Well , Fluxbox under RH takes more time to start as KDE 3 :(
Only thing i did , compiled it from source ;)

This = Waimea + Default Background + Style-Grey Style + IcOsX Icons + iDesk with High Contrast Edging patch.

Edit: nicer picture, without RIAA cartoon, showing my take on a "taskbar" ;-)

not that I've really looked very hard yet... but what is the clock/calendar you are using in that shot?
I recognise the others in that style, just the clock/cal I cant name.

Great shots ;)

Well , the clock/Calendar is wmclockmon.

Hmm , shall i really say how i fixed wmnetload ;)
Psst , Programmers dont read this..hehe

OK..first get libdockapps and xpm.
then make sure u have the libs and headers , specially the problems
are xpm.h and dockapps.h , at the right places.

untar wmnetload in a temporaly folder or wherever.

run "configure" as root.
So, now u get ,like everyone, the error message , Cant find xpm.h .
But its there like u know...hehe
So edit the file "configure" and search for the error message where it breaked.

Delete in the routine "exit 1" and save the file.

Run "configure" again .

Damn , the next error , "Cant find dockapps.h" or whatever...

Edit "configure" again and search for the error message.

Delete "exit 1" again and save it.

Now run "configure --prefix=/usr" again and what the heck...
"make"
"make install"

voila...done

Bad style, but wmnetload run without any problems

OK, u get the errormessage while u run configure but
the process dont break and thats we want.

If this dont work for you , maybe u have the header files (xpm.h ,dockapps.h) not at the right places.

If somebody want , i can post my configure file.

That's one of the cleanest, most attractive desktops I've seen. How the hell can you leave that?

Here's mine. I had to squish everything to make it all fit in one workspace. I don't care for my gkrellm theme much, but it's the closest I could find to my flux theme. There's one that matches much better in one of the screenshots at fluxbox.org, but I can't find it to download. Ah well...

At first , i wanted to open a new thread for it , coz this one is going to be
tooooooooooo big ..hehe.

But now im here .

Hi ,
i packed a complete Fluxbox Style in one packet.
If u want to have a look like this:

http://djoimania.bei.t-online.de/DJoimaniac.jpg (well its one of my screen above)

get this:

http://djoimania.bei.t-online.de/gentoo_fluxbox_djoimania.tar.gz

In the paket u find everything you need (i hope ;)), oops not everything,
this style looks good with font snap (which is in the paket) but on this pic
i used dungeon.ttf (which isnt in the paket).

To start the dockapps put something like this in your :
if u start X from console : .xinitrc
or
for xdm user: xsession

Quote:

export GDK_USE_XFT=1
bbpager -w &
wmdrawer &
sleep 1 wmcpuload &
wmmemload &
wmnetload -b -i eth0 &
wmclockmon &
wmmaiload &
wmmaiload &
volume.app &

# .xinitrc only
exec fluxbox

If you have a question or it dont run by you , ask here !
Dont forget to read the READMEs , etc. or
run the dockapps with "name_of_dockapp --help" , maybe you
have to change some parameters.

For sure you have to change the config files to change the path to
your home folder (search everything for "djoi" and change it to yor account).

Maybe you have to unmerge the old dockapps first if u dont get
the colors.

If you know fluxbox all is easy , i think ;)

Im on the way to make a xmas style if anyone interested.
Maybe ill post it here too.

I hope its worth to open a new thread , otherwise you have the
permission to delete it..hehe

Greetz
Sorry , im not a good teacher..hehe

PS.: Wallpaper isnt made by me , its from the great "Copperdeck II theme" for Nextstart.
