Can somebody explain me differences between Wine and WineX.
Is it that winex is only for gaming - not for runing common software. |

WineX has advanced DirectX support, and Wine doesn't. As far as I know, that's the only significant difference. I've managed to run productivity applications in WineX, but I gather Wine is a bit better at doing that job. I saw a posting on another site by a guy called Frank that said this | Code: | WineX is an implementation of directx 7/8 and based on Rewind (the x11 fork of wine)
Wine is better for applications, but works also with a lot of opengl games. |
So Wine will probably serve you best if you want both worlds, unless your favourite games are DirectX/Direct3D only. |
