I installed KDE and I am trying to configure /etc/X11/XF86Config and it is being retarded. I went though the whole setup. When I try to run startx, it gives me the following errors:
Code:
(EE) xf86OpenSerial: Cannot open device /dev/psaux  No such device or address.
(EE) Mouse1: cannot open input device
(EE) PreInit failed for input device "Mouse1"

Which is stupid because I checked, and there is a file called /dev/psaux. Why is my computer retarded?

I have no idea, but it says there's an OpenSerial error (I suppose referring to a serial mouse) which points to /dev/psaux. Do you have a serial mouse? Maybe it's just trying to run the wrong kind of device driver or maybe serial mice get a different /dev address? I dunno. Just a thought.

that probably means that you do not have the device file /dev/psaux.
do a ls /dev/psaux to check. One thing i would check is to make sure ps2 mouse support is included in the kernel (it is by default, however you might've accidently turned it off). Also, are you using the default settings for devfs, or are you even using devfs?
Off the top of my head, those are all posible causes.

Check the relevent section of the Xconfig file. I had this problem with my USB mouse, it wasn't getting detected. A quick edit of the mouse section and everything worked fine after that.
