|
|
I've got a problem concerning Halflife: It isn't anymore possible to play, since the game exits each time it tries to enter the fullscreen opengl mode. But it did work once, until I changed the kernel. Then it stopped working, and now I can't figure out which option is responsible for this problem. I tried different kernel versions, and differen options but none works.
If ANYONE of you out there using gentoo is able to play halflife, I would appreciate if he could tell me his kernel .config so I can check the differences and find out the problem.
At the moment I'm using 2.4.19-r10, but I think it's version independant.
Thanx for your help, Bushmann. |

stick with vanilla kernel if you want to truly run wine/winex apps, uhm, try emerge winesetuptk and run the config and have it auto detect and overwrite your current wine config , dont worry it makes a backup, and see if that solves the problem. this is usually the case.
if not check out frankscorner.org and see if you are missing anything.

i personally haven't had any problem with the gentoo kernel and winex. winex defaults have worked perfectly for me, and counter-strike(retail) works better than in windows.
i would suggest you try running a native opengl app like tuxracer or ut2003 so you can narrow down your problem a bit. i'm not positive what they are, but i know some kernel configs can show problems with some video cards. esp nvidia.

| Native OpenGL is no problem, I play quake3, ut, ut2003 and so one without any problems. Normal Wine applications aren't a problem either, neverwinternights+wine works, and all the other opengl/sdl things too, just halflife doesn't want opengl. So I'm really confused, since it worked, and now it doesn't anymore. |
