|
|
I'm wanting to add a PCI wireless ethernet card to my Ultra10, which is otherwise pretty vanilla. I found a listing of tested cards on linux.com, and these are the ones that I think I am leaning towards:
Global Sun Technology GL24110P02 PCI (wi) (A)
LinkSys WDT11 PCI (a relabeled GL24110P02) (wi) (A)
NDC/Sohoware NCP130 PCI (wi) (A) $39.99
Does anyone have any better recommendations? Any tips or ideas at all would be great. I'm quite a n00b at both linux and SPARCs.
Thanks in advance. _________________ Bookcrossing rocks |

NetGear MA311 works a treat in my Ultra 5 under 2.6 kernel with the orinoco_pci drivers, and since the Ultra 5 is virtually the same as an Ultra 10 you should be OK.
HOWEVER....
It doesn't work under 2.4 kernels, you get firmware initialisation errors.
I don't know if you'll get the same problem with other prism 2 based cards so I'd be a bit choosy. |

Thanks for the recommendation.
But your reply also brings up another question, very much off topic for this thread. That is, how do I upgrade my kernel? I downloaded the most recent 2004.1, and it's kernel is 2.4.25. I wanted 2.6, but I just didn't see it under releases. _________________ Bookcrossing rocks |
