Linux magazine mentions Cinelerra, a free, big timer for linux. I mean, BIG TIMER. Specs listed below. But this page also list several really, really good dv editing sites.

The source code is said to be hard to compile. Any guru out there want to make an ebuild? (PPPPLLLLLEEEEAAAAAASSSEEEEEEE)

also, search for "cinerella ebuild"
seems two (now three) threads will appear with links to Sourceforge and a gentoo ebuild. if anyone updates the ebuild, pls lemme know.

Quote:
RECOMMENDED FRONT END SYSTEM:

RECOMMENDED RENDERFARM NODE:

Single 1.6Ghz Athlon.

256MB RAM for SD.
512MB RAM for HD.

quick search on google revealed:

also, Linux Journal is doing some series of articles on the subject:

http://www.linuxjournal.com/article.php?sid=4483

and examples:

some good links at the bottom.

Also,

Code:
$ emerge -s cinelerra
*  media-video/cinelerra
      Latest version available: 1.0.0

Code:
 emerge -p cinelerra

reveals that xfree 4.2.1 is required. I'm in the process of getting KDE to work and, per bug 9423, I have to emerge 4.2.0, then KDE and "Any other programs" and then unemerge xfree and emerge 4.2.1.
Should I emerge Ceneralla before 4.2.1 or after?

Thanks!

Please feel free to check out bug #7973.
Avidemux is a fine tool and it's getting better fast.
As for the cam-prog, I'd love an ebuild for the latest gphoto/gtkam suite.
