I think I know the unfortunate answer to this, but before I pay Tatung $$$ to reprogram their non-flashable boot prom, can anyone tell me the earliest version of OPB that will give me 64bit operation under Gentoo? |

I don't know that there is one. Are you currently having problems? |

No, not yet. Actually, I've gone out and bought an Athlon64 in the mean time, but I'm still curious. Solaris 8 & 9 won't install in 64 bit mode without OBP 3.11.2. Suse 6.3 for SPARC64 installed, but OOo and some other programs wouldn't compile without patches that required the later OBP.
After I get my AMD system running, I'll be able to come back & toy with the SPARC some more and I'll post what I find out.
Btw, this is a Tatung SPARCStation 8400? (297Mhz), which I'm guessing is a clone of an Ultra 2.
Thanks,
