I am no good at coding in html (and tho I have friends who can, and I'm sure I could pick it up) I'd nonetheless like to install a html program for linux, so I can get my linux page happening.
I have read that most ppl seem to be using vi or pico - text editors in general and basically coding it all manually.
I can't do that (tho basic coding is fine)
I have come across bluefish and wondering if anyone has used it, and whether there is an ebuild for it (at work atm).
Or can anyone recommend something else?
worst comes to worst, I can use dreamweaver, under windows, under vmware, under linux - but I don't want to do that
thanks! |

Hi,
There is the obvious suggestion of the composer which is included with Mozilla.
I have come from using NetObjects Fussion in Windows so I will be watching this thread too!
Cheers,
Neil... |

Bluefish has an ebuild. I've used it and it's simple to configure.
Another choice is screem. Screem also has an ebuild.
Try both and see which you prefer.
cheers,

I don't know if you have tried quanta yet, there is an ebuild for it. Or emacs with html-menus package installed. I find it harder to learn *using* WYSIWYG editors than learning html, but than again, thats just me.
Good Luck,

ONE WORD!
QUANTA!!!
This is now one of my favorite open-source projects out there. I am a PHP developer on the side and this has GREATLY simplified my entire process. The project management and change-updloading features just can't be beat. Not too mention code completion for most web languages and great highlighting.
This program is a must have for anyone doing web development.
Derek
PS - sorry if I sound a little preachy - its just that this program has completely blown me away with its usefulness. |

Oh, forgot to mention:
emerge quanta
works great.
I took the time to whip up a screenshot as well:

PS - this is my work machine, so go easy on me not having it customized to the hilt you should see my home desktop.....
EDIT: Oh, and if you are wondering what that error is in the box on the bottom that is because quanta has a php listener (for php debugging) and I already had one copy of quanta running and opened another one - thus I got the error because the listener couldn't start - no biggie |

*I* use Jedit!! All I wan't is an editor with syntax highliting and stuff so that's fine by me (I even used it to write several essays and homeworks!!), but i'm emerging quanta to see what it can do. _________________ "Is this type of thing going to happen every time we switch to improbability drive?"
