|
|
I emerge KDE without changing the make.conf and now i can't
configure my Canon BJC-3000 printer because everybody tell
me that i forgot to emerge CUPS. Do i really need CUPS ?
Can I re-emerge CUPS only or do i have to do KDE completely ?
TIA, Marauder. |

it should be no problem just to emerge cups, kde detects its presence;
and add cups to your USE variable.
btw: cups is far better then lprng ad the like IMHO |

I found that putting 'cups' into the USE variable and running 'emerge kdelibs' seemed to do the trick. 'emerge kde' didn't seem to detect addition of the cups flag. |

If cups is set as a default, ie in /etc/make.profile/make.defaults you should need to compile cups as a USE as it is alreadt set, for my install of Gentoo it is listed, but I installed with 1.2 rather than 1.1a. |
