Actually, iiuc the problem arose when one of the working class heroes involved started using them while not earning a living with them. |

That's true. However, in a day and age where your health and safety boils down to a "business expense" for most employers, would you trust *your* employer to look out for the best interests of your, um, "stuff?" I think not.

And where I live I don't have to. Health care and insurance is not a business expense, since it isn't supplied by employers. Folks have to insure themselves over here. Apart from that the employer can't simply fire workers that are ill for a long period of time, but has to pay its salary for two years and design and implement a program to get the worker fit for work again. So not taking proper care of your employees will actually result in larger business expenses. You can't fire them and you have to pay 'm anyway, so you'd better try to get them fit asap again. |
