|

Hi,
Been having trouble w/ Evolution, so I removed it (emerge -u evolution) and I'm trying to re-compile it, without luck. I"m getting the following error:
suicidal app-text # emerge evolution
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge app-text/pspell-0.12.2-r2 to /
!!! pspell-.12.2.tar.gz: message digests do not match!
!!! pspell-.12.2.tar.gz is corrupt or incomplete.
>>> our recorded digest: cfd3816b2372932a1b71c0ce4e9f881e
>>> your file's digest: 93ac076ce1a33333a5fd06b1acca0994
>>> Please delete /usr/portage/distfiles/pspell-.12.2.tar.gz and refetch.
!!! emerge aborting on /usr/portage/app-text/pspell/pspell-0.12.2-r2.ebuild .
I delete the offending file, re-do the emerge, and I get the same thing over again. Is it a corrupted file on the server, or something with my system? Any ideas?

Just wget pspell-0.12.2-r2 into /usr/portage/distfiles and try emerging again, should work then _________________ This message self destructed a long time ago. |

But if you wget it from the same server you're going to have the same problem, surely?
BTW, I'm getting exactly the same error when trying to compile pspell. Has the ebuild script gone out of sync with the source code? |

someone else had a similar error trying abi-word. I think he ended up getting the file from another server and then trying again. (checkout abi-word error or something like that on this forum). this is the second one that I have heard of...not good. I don't know what to make of it. I guess it's good that it catches it BEFORE installation.
try to see if you can get psspell from somewhere else. OR try emerging an older version than r2 maybe r1.

No, it's because things have changed over at Sourceforge - this problem now applies to software obtained from Sourceforge URIs. The URI used to get the file, but now instead you get a chuck of HTML saying "Please pick a mirror"!! If you load the pspell-.12.2.tar.gz into nano you will see the HTML quite clearly. No wonder the MD5 doesn't check out ...
The solution is to actually visit the site in a browser and get the file then put it into /usr/portage/distfiles and proceed. Unless you can find a direct link in which case you could change the ebuild file. Methinks this problem needs sorting out soon ... |

I had this problem too. It's a corrupted file on the mirror. Do a search for pspell and find my thread on it - someone gave a link to sourceforge to download it. Once you have it in downloaded, just run the emerge and it should work fine. I'm on lynx right now - otherwise I'd get a link for you |

OK, I downloaded it from about five of the Gentoo mirrors - same thing every time. Aren't the mirrors just syncing up with the main repositry?
Can someone put a good build up on an ftp server for me - pretty please |
