|
|
Hello all. I currently running Postfix/clamav/Spamassassin/amavisd-new on a Red Hat 8 box as an SMTP gateway for my Exchange server, and I want to replace it with a spare Sun Ultra 10 that I have installed Gentoo on.
Here's my problem: I installed Postfix, clamav, and Spamassassin without any problems but amavisd-new is keyword masked, along with three PERL packages that are dependencies (net-server, perl-ldap, and authen-sasl).
Questions: Are these packages masked on the Sparc platform because they're untested, unstable, or both? If they are not recommended to install, what other option is there available to tie Postfix, clamav, and Spamassassin together, the way amavisd-new does?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks! |

These packages are probably not marked as stable because of lack of testing. perl-ldap does have this bug open currently, but I've been unable to reproduce it. If these packages work for you, the best way to get us to either add a ~sparc to them (if they have no sparc keywords currently), or move them to stable is to file a bug at https://bugs.gentoo.org and assign it to the SPARC team. |

Thanks for the response. I think I'll go ahead and unmask the packages and install them and see what happens... |

courier-mta? I'm not using it at all. Just the pieces mentioned above - postfix, clamav, amavisd-new, dcc, and spamassassin.
In case anyone is curious, it's still a work in progress... I'm still have a few little kinks to work out just yet. |

Oops my bad. Somebody had posted a bug about courier-mta and had mentioned it was in relation to instructions in the forum and I thought it was from this post. Don't mind me. |

Ah...sorry Weeve , that was me - I mean't instructions on how to get a package unmasked for Sparc.
I have been using Courier-mta 0.45.2 and now 0.45.3 - both compilled and run fine on my Sparc (ultra 5). I have Courier supporting virtual users via mysql as per one of the forum how-tos. I am looking to get spamassassin and clamav working. I have had a bit of trouble with maildrop but I dont think it is sparc specific - the courier ebuild doesnt enable support for mysql in maildrop even if you have mysql in your use flags - but thats off topic so I will post it elsewhere. |
